How to apply

Application Form

There is no time limit for the submission of applications, but the sooner you can submit your application, the sooner your details will be forwarded to schools.

Supporting statement

When completing the on line form please ensure your give careful thought to the completion of your personnel statement. This will often form the basis of whether a school will interview you for a post. The following is a list of some of the areas that your application will be assessed on:

Choice of Areas

As Essex including Southend-on-Sea and Thurrock is a large geographical area, it is important that you let us know which areas of the county you are interested in teaching in. To help ensure that we meet your wishes, we ask you to complete the choice of areas form giving us your preferences for geographical areas for your first teaching post.

This form also asks for your agreement for your details to be sent to Roman Catholic (Aided) Schools, and also to special schools within Essex, Southend-on-Sea and Thurrock.

You should note that if you do not complete this form your details will automatically be sent to all schools in Essex, Southend-on-Sea and Thurrock.

References

In order to obtain a reference from your training provider, you should print out the reference letter and hand this to your tutor. It is important that you hand this letter in, as schools will require this reference before they are able to consider your application.

A second reference will also be required from your second placement school. This may be submitted after you submit your application should the placement not have taken place at the time of your application.

Application process

Once we have received your completed online application form your name and details will be added to our database which can be viewed online by all schools within Essex, Southend-on-Sea and Thurrock who wish to appoint an NQT. Once your details have been seen, schools will get in touch with you directly to offer you the opportunity for an interview for a post at their school.

You may also apply directly to schools for any posts that are advertised in TES or Jobscene. This may be in addition to applying for the pool, and rather than completing a further application form - simply tell them that your application is held on the NQT database.
