Southend-on-Sea

You will have access to a range of professional development opportunities. Included in this is a structured mentor support programme in your new school to develop the knowledge and skills identified in your Career Entry and Development Profile (CEDP), as well as a portfolio especially designed to guide NQTs through their induction year.

After a warm welcome to Southend, NQTs will have a monthly event, arranged by the LA, specifically designed to address early professional needs. These events will include:

  • An introduction to professional opportunities such as the Fast Track Scheme
  • Behaviour Management Training
  • Subject knowledge and pedagogical skills
  • Assessment for learning
  • Special Educational Needs
  • Locality working and Integration of services

Southend schools also provide professional development programmes and during your induction as a NQT, you’ll be helped to identify your professional development goals and provided with advice, support and information from both your school and the local authority.
